Yolks

I gave in to insecurity and watched
The sun rise over a cracked day. I drank
Coffee behind the steering wheel while
A cop leaned back on his bike and
Watched me fill the car. The light
Flickered, I twitched. The morning
Cold lied, it didn’t stick around for
Long and as the sun rose, all the shadows
Melted or dissipated and there was nothing but
The burden of light over everything.
