The Currency of Space

“You may think I’m small, but I have a universe in my mind.” Yoko Ono

The currency of revolution is space. We slice through
Masculinity as we walk down public streets. The doorways
Gaze; we develop packs. We move through cities like
Wolves who’ve discovered that the moon belongs to
Not-men. It is always self-defense. Yes, bathrooms are
Communal spaces where we apply lipstick and plot tactics
To master conversational coups when our voices are
Drowned in the cocky baritones of the perpetually
Narrating. We gather because it is safe. We gather because
We have recognized the sanctity of confidence and
The spherical magnification of our power when we collaborate
In corners and shadows. We do not go unnoticed, and this too
Is noticed. We grow wider, walk wider, sing wider, dress
Wider. Slowly, but surely, the sidewalks will be reclaimed.
The space will be ours. We will gaze back at doorways
That are empty, waiting to be invited in to the party.

Always seriously joking and rambunctiously soft-spoken.
