Thunderstorms

Today I got caught in the rain, twice.
I felt the warning droplets and, suddenly,
The onslaught of warm water rushing
From the sky, a gray shower at dawn.
I felt the rain run down my face,
Like tears, and felt cleansed. I had been
Cooled and calmed in the midst of
Relentless fire, onslaughts of heat in summer.
Sometimes the battle is to give in,
To be drenched in chaos and, slowly,
Break through the clouds.
