Long Beach

Ocean gradients fade into
Skylines across seashores that lap
At empty beaches in California
Where we sweat and season the day
With salt and peppermint gum
There are no sidewalks just
Traffic jams and stop signs for the
Lonely pedestrians who insist on
Putting feet to earth
Exfoliating thought processes in the
Sand and running rampant across
Smoggy palm trees
America mocks itself while listening to
Classic rock as its shoulders burn
In the sun, a satire of itself

Always seriously joking and rambunctiously soft-spoken.
