Laughter

you remark that this tree is a jokester
laughing at himself outside of
our window and I tell you you’re
an old man with old man jokes
together we laugh and laugh
more than the all the trees combined
more than all the laughs of
all the children in the world combined
more than our bodies can allow
and we laugh until we are the tree
we are the children we are
the laughter in the world until we
are free and formless not even able
to retain the disappointment that
follows because even sadness in the
right light is full of laughter too

Always seriously joking and rambunctiously soft-spoken.
