Power Hungry

The more I believe in my own power
The more it grows. I meditate upon the
Phrase, “I am my own worst enemy.”
Empty days pass in empty rooms where the sun
Crawls across broken window shades. I
Wonder if it would be better to fill the days
With you, but you are not here and that answers
Every question. I forget that the more I breathe,
The more I expand and fill all corners of
This place, this street, this city, this
Universe. I forget that the more I breathe,
The more I create and I have created a
World without you. All the better because I am
My own world, in and of my whole self,
And there is no room for emptiness, there is
No room for the men who choose not to be
Present in the act of creation and breathing,
As simple as it may seem.
