Moving Day

The way you fold your socks
Is the way you live your life. Or
So I’ve been told. As I bruised my knees
Scrubbing the windowsills of hundred year old
Apartments, I cried at my hastiness. Second
Thoughts are for those who don’t trust themselves
Enough to make the right choice when the time
Comes, who don’t believe in waiting for fear that
There will never be another day. There is always
Another day and when there isn’t, you will never
Know. I fold my socks as if they were broken men
And women who needed me, who, through redemption
Might redeem myself. I am torn down in the process.
