Wind Chill

This air bites and
In such cases we must
Take precautions to safeguard
The softness of our skin.
As the sun grows distant,
We add layers between
Ourselves and its distinct light.
Staring into the crisp corners
Of shadows on winter days,
Incubating for those moments
When the layers can be removed —
When the sun and our bodies
Have recovered from the trauma
Of global winters.
